Horse Rescue Victoria | Operation Animal Rescue | Horse
Task Hope Horse Welfare Victoria, originally referred to as Project Hope Horse Rescue first began in 1973 whenever a concerned Val Collingwood of Wallan, Victoria, wrote into RIDER magazine regarding the amount of neglected horses in Australia.
She outlined a scheme where someone could co-ordinate the rescue and rehabilitation of those unfortunate animals and she advised the name "Project Hope" in memory of the terribly neglected, supposedly aged, buck-jumper through Queensland. She had taken him home to try and save his life, giving him or her the name "Hope", although he'd very little. He died three weeks later on from massive worm infestation in the tender age of three.
Progressively, the organization grew until it became essential to use newsletters for communication, to introduce memberships fees to assist cover costs, and to draft a constitution. The group has steadily grown from there and by using a logo and media coverage has turned into a more familiar name in horse circles within Victoria.
